COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic Hours Update

The COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday, Thursday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The clinic is currently located within the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital, in the Oaks Pavilion, Floor 3, Southside Dining Facility. Enter by Meadows Pavilion, Floor 3, Subway.
- TRICARE beneficiaries age 12 and up, DoD Civilian employees, and DoD Contract employees are eligible to receive a vaccine with us.
- Booster doses are now being offered for select groups: People age 65 and older, residents in long term care facilities, people age 18-64 with underlying health conditions, and people 18-64 who are at increased risk due to occupational or institutional setting are eligible for a booster dose 6 months after their 2nd Pfizer dose. Please speak with your Primary Care Provider with any questions or concerns.
- For those who are moderately to severely immunocompromised, a 3rd dose is available 28 days from your 2nd dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Please speak with your Primary Care Provider with any questions or concerns.
Boosters and 3rd doses are only available to those who were vaccinated with the Pfizer series.
Patients are encouraged to book an appointment through the DHA Appointment Portal. Please book 3rd dose appointments as 2nd dose appointments if there are no 3rd dose appointments available: https://informatics-stage.health.mil/BelvoirCOVIDApp/.
Walk-in appointments are accommodated on a space available basis.

3rd Dose -vs- Booster Shots
- An additional, or “Third Dose” is for people who may not have had a strong enough immune response from the first 2 doses.
- A “Booster” shot is for people whose immune response may have weakened over time.

Current Vaccine Guidance:
- In accordance with recent CDC guidelines, an additional 3rd dose of the mRNA vaccine is recommended only for individuals identified as “moderately to severely immunocompromised”.
- The 3rd dose must be at least 28 days from your 2nd dose. Please speak to your Primary Care Provider if you are unsure of your current health status or have any questions regarding the COVID 19 vaccine.
- At this time, a “booster” dose is not approved for healthy individuals. We will update this hotline with any changes.

mRNA 3rd Dose Booster Guidance
The CDC is currently recommending that moderately to severely immunocompromised people receive an additional third dose of the mRNA vaccine. CDC recommendations on the booster shots for all populations are still under consideration. FBCH will provide additional guidance on booster shots as it evolves.
Patients identified as being moderately to severely immunocompromised includes people who have:
- Been receiving active cancer treatment for tumors or cancers of the blood.
- Received an organ transplant and are taking medicine to suppress the immune system.
- Received a stem cell transplant within the last 2 years or are taking medicine to suppress the immune system.
- Moderate or severe primary immunodeficiency (such as DiGeorge syndrome, Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome).
- Advanced or untreated HIV infection.
- Active treatment with high-dose corticosteroids (≥20mg prednisone daily or equivalent) or other drugs that may suppress your immune response.
Individuals must self-identify as requiring the additional third dose. A provider referral or script is NOT required in order to receive the additional third dose. Individuals are encouraged to speak with their Primary Care Provider if they are unsure about their current health status.
Patient must wait at least 28-days after completing their 2-dose mRNA vaccine series prior to receiving the additional third dose.
For people who received either Pfizer or Moderna mRNA vaccines, a third dose of the same vaccine should be used.
This third dose recommendation DOES NOT apply to individuals who received the Janssen/J&J vaccine.
FBCH currently offers the Pfizer mRNA COVID-19 vaccine only.

Beginning Tuesday, July 6, the COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic will be located directly within the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital.
You will find the clinic located in the Eagle Pavilion, Floor 2, Reception 2.
Please note, the clinic will no longer operate out of the Community Center.
The COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
It is closed on Wednesdays, weekends and federal holidays at this time.

We are now offering the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine to beneficiaries age 12 and up. Patients under the age of 18 must have a parent present during their vaccine appointment.
If you are in one of the following categories, you are eligible to receive the Pfizer vaccine with us:
- TRICARE beneficiaries age 12 and up,
- DoD Civilian employees and
- Select contractor personnel who usually receive influenza vaccines as part of a DoD occupational health program.
We’re currently offering the Pfizer vaccine only; this vaccine is given in a two-dose series separated by 21 days. The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is being offered through an Emergency Use Authorization by the Food and Drug Administration on a voluntary basis.

Expanded Clinic Hours & Walk-in Availability
Beginning Monday, April 26 the FBCH COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic will begin operating 7 days a week from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic operates by appointment, with limited walk-ins available from 3 to 5 p.m. daily.
Walk-ins are subject to vaccine availability and are not guaranteed.
- All TRICARE beneficiaries, ages 16 and up, are now eligible to receive their COVID-19 vaccine.
- Other eligible personnel include DoD Civilian employees and select contractor personnel who usually receive influenza vaccines as part of a DoD occupational health program are also eligible to receive their COVID-19 vaccine.

Tier #2 Vaccine Appointment Availability
Exciting news!!! Beginning Wednesday, April 14 the FBCH COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic will open appointments for Tier #2:
- All TRICARE beneficiaries, ages 16 and up, are now eligible to make an appointment to receive their COVID-19 vaccine.
- The FBCH COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic operates by appointment ONLY; there is NO walk-in availability at this time.
- New appointment time slots are released weekly based on vaccine supply. Please check the appointment site often for new releases.
- Other eligible personnel include DoD Civilian employees and select contractor personnel who usually receive influenza vaccines as part of a DoD occupational health program.

We are now in Tier 1C, open to beneficiaries age 65 and up and patients age 16 to 64 with increased risk for severe illness as defined by the CDC. This list of conditions has been expanded; please see the CDC website for more information. Beneficiaries in Tiers 1A and 1B are also still eligible to receive the vaccine. Please note: Tier 1b now includes DoD beneficiaries who work in the civilian sector as education professionals.

Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (FBCH) shares your concerns of quickly providing the most up-to date and accurate information to our beneficiaries and staff.
As you may know, we've received the Pfizer vaccine here at Fort Belvoir. This vaccine requires two doses, separated by 21 days. We're currently finishing second doses for our healthcare personnel, and getting started with first doses for our Critical National Capabilities personnel.
We’re gearing up to provide vaccines to the next DHA designated population. Details on providing the vaccine and vaccine availability, eligibility, how to book an appointment and updates will be shared using the following methods:
