Welcome to Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center
Fort Belvoir Community Hospital now bears the name of Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) to honor Lt. Col. (Dr.) Alexander Thomas Augusta, the highest-ranking black officer in the Union Army, the first black professor of medicine at Howard University in Washington D.C. and the first black officer to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

Transfer of Directorship Ceremony at A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center
The Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) proudly conducted its Transfer of Directorship Ceremony today, marking a significant transition in leadership within one of the cornerstone institutions of the Defense Health Network. Rear Adm. Reginald Ewing III presided over the ceremony, welcoming Colonel Gina Adam as the new director, succeeding Colonel Elba Villacorta.

This meaningful event took place on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at three locations: the A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center Chapel, the Soldier Recovery Unit, and the DiLorenzo Pentagon Health Clinic.
