Fairfax and Dumfries Health Centers are community-based extensions of Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) and represent opportunities for TRICARE eligible beneficiaries to enroll and receive Primary Care, selected specialty care and major ancillary services.
These Health Centers have been in place since 2015, have a rich history of delivering high quality, easily accessible care and services and are completing the addition of 12 new Primary Care Managers between Fairfax and Dumfries to expand and enhance their capacity in providing community-based care for ATAMMC. Beginning in August 2023, we will have additional enrollment opportunities at both locations.

Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) is still offering seasonal vaccines, including the COVID vaccine, to eligible TRICARE beneficiaries ages 5 years of age and older Monday, November 13th through Saturday, November 18th, and Monday November 20th (Final Day), from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. The location is the South Side of the Dining Facility, on the third floor of the hospital.

Vaccines available for administration are:
- Standard (normal) Dose Influenza: Ages 6 months and older
- High Dose Influenza: All eligible ages
- Pfizer Monovalent COVID Vaccine: Ages 5 years and older
- Adult Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Vaccine: *Enrolled beneficiaries ages 60 years and older with an order from their provider. SEE MORE...

The A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center will be offering Flu vaccines on Friday, October 27th, 2023, during Retiree Appreciation Day at the Wells Field House on Fort Belvoir.
Our annual TRICARE Beneficiary Flu Drive is scheduled to begin at the A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center on Saturday, November 4th from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. The location is on the third floor of the hospital on the South Side of the Dining Facility, and is open to all eligible beneficiaries ages 5 years old and older.

You may have been recently informed by an Express Scripts letter or by an AudioCare message that Akorn Pharmaceuticals issued a voluntary recall of certain products.
Akorn Operating Company LLC filed for bankruptcy and ceased their quality monitoring program, which means the company will no longer be able to support or guarantee that all of their products will meet the intended specifications through the labeled shelf life, or expiration dates. The impacted products were distributed to healthcare facilities and pharmacies across the United States, and upon recommendation of the FDA, we are following removal guidelines. SEE MORE...

On May 16th, at 2:00 p.m., the Defense Health Agency (DHA) will conduct a renaming and dedication ceremony of Fort Belvoir Community Hospital (FBCH). The community hospital will bear the name of Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) to honor Lt. Col. (Dr.) Alexander Thomas Augusta, the highest-ranking black officer in the Union Army, the first black professor of medicine at Howard University in Washington D.C. and the first black officer to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. This morning at exactly 7:00 a.m., MHS GENESIS marked its GO LIVE event at the Belvoir Hospital!
In a show of esprit de corps and surrounded by Team Members, the hospital adopted its “Go Live” mascot, GENI the Caterpillar, who officially sprouted its wings and became a butterfly as the hospital enacted its new electronic health record system.
MHS GENESIS is the new electronic health record for the Military Health System and the Department of Defense. The rollout started in 2017 in the Pacific Northwest, and it has been working its way, more or less, west to east across the country since then. SEE MORE...

Due to an exceptionally high volume of patients at our outlying Family Health Centers at Dumfries and Fairfax, beneficiaries may be experiencing longer than normal wait times at each of these locations. You are important to us, and multiple efforts are being taken to decrease these wait times. We also feel it to be equally important to prepare you and your family for any unexpected delays and provide options for your healthcare needs.
In support of our military healthcare mission, active-duty Service Members remain our priority and are required to been seen at a Military Treatment Facility, without exception, for urgent and primary medical care. However, we have additional options that do not require referrals for family members and retirees to receive urgent care, telephone advice, and telehealth visits. On October 12, 2022, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a shortage of the IR formulation of amphetamine mixed salts, commonly referred to by the brand name Adderall or Adderall IR. Effective August 1, 2022, non-emergent PCR COVID testing will be batched and ran only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. However, home COVID Antigen tests will continue to be available 24/7 for staff and beneficiaries to provide rapid results. Outpatient Lab Update: Monday, May 23, 2022
Outpatient Lab/Phlebotomy Services Hours of Operation
Beginning on Monday, May 23, 2022, the Belvoir Hospital Outpatient Lab/Phlebotomy Department will be open Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This change only effects the phlebotomy lab of the main hospital. Phlebotomy hours at our outlying clinics at Dumfries and Fairfax Health Centers remain unchanged.
