NOTE: Gate schedules and access may change periodically. See Installation Access/Gates page to ensure most up to date information from Fort Belvoir Garrison. The Visitor Control Center is located at 9500 Pohick Road, Bldg.1409. The staff can help visitors find a destination on post and answer general questions about installation services and events. Directions to A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center

From Washington, via I-95 South

  • If you are traveling south on 1-95, take the Fairfax Parkway/Backlick Road (286) exit 166 A.
  • Take the Fairfax County Parkway to its end at U.S. Rt. 1 (Richmond Highway.)
  • Turn left
  • At the first light, on the right, is the entrance for Tulley Gate on to Fort Belvoir.

From Richmond, via I-95 North

  • If you are traveling north on 1-95 North, take the Fort Belvoir Exit 161 B. (U.S. Rt 1 -- Richmond Highway)
  • You will travel five miles to Fort Belvoir.
  • Continue through the light at the Fairfax County Parkway (286). At the next stop light, on the right side you will see the entrance for Tulley Gate, turn right.

If you have a Common Access Card (CAC) or federal identification card

  • You may enter post through any open gate.

If you don’t have a CAC or federal identification card

  • All Visitors (NON-ID Card Holders) and Commercial traffic will be processed through the commercial lanes (right-hand lanes) at Tulley or Lieber Gate. Tulley Gate Visitor Control Center (VCC) Monday thru Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    NOTE: After hours and on weekends/holidays, visitor (NON-ID Card Holders) and commercial traffic must use the commercial lanes at Tulley Gate.

Entering Fort Belvoir

  • Everyone entering Fort Belvoir will need government-issued photo identification. Examples include driver’s license, state identification card, military identification or passport. This applies to everyone in the vehicle age 16 and over. It also applies to pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcycle riders.
  • Department of Defense post decals and motor vehicle registration are no longer required to enter the post.
  • Drivers with a government-issued Common Access Card, operating a personally-owned vehicle, may enter the post through any open gate.
  • Rental cars must enter Fort Belvoir through commercial lanes at Tulley or Lieber Gate. Drivers will be required to show a copy of the rental contract. Vehicles may be selected for random vehicle inspection by security guards.
  • Cabs must enter through the commercial lanes at Tulley or Lieber Gate at all times. Everyone in the vehicle age 16 and over must show a government issued photo identification. The cab may be inspected by security guards.
  • Pedestrians must show government-issued photo identification.
  • Bicyclists must show government-issued photo identification, and must be wearing a bicycle helmet. Bicycles must be equipped with proper lights/reflectors.
  • For motorcycle riders, the driver policies listed above also apply. However, motorcycle riders must wear a helmet, shoes that are closed and cover the ankles, eye protection if there is no face shield on the helmet, reflective clothing, gloves, long pants and a long sleeve shirt. Motorcycle riders may be asked for their motorcycle safety card to prove attendance of a motorcycle safety course.

Hospital Parking

  • Patient parking is designated on the first two levels of both Meadows and River parking garages on each side of the hospital. In addition to the parking garages, parking spaces are available in front of the hospital.
    • NOTE: Parking lots adjacent to the Warrior and Intrepid pavilions are reserved for Wounded Warriors and their family members only.
  • Staff Parking is located in the Meadows and River parking garages on all but the first two floors of each garage.
  • Environmentally-friendly parking is available through the hospital’s participation in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program. A total of 336 parking spaces have been designated for either carpools or low-emission vehicles. Patients and staff participating in carpools or driving low-emission vehicles are encouraged to use these spaces.
  • Mass transportation options are available for staff and patients. Fairfax Connector operates an express bus from the Springfield/Franconia Metro station to Fort Belvoir. More information is available on the Fairfax Connector website.
