Belvoir Hospital Pharmacy Upgrade, December 1, 2022

Date: 12/1/2022

The Belvoir Hospital Department of Pharmacy will be transitioning and upgrading software and equipment beginning Friday, December 2nd. During these upgrades, delays are expected with prescription processing and pickup, and these delays may possibly continue through December 14th.

The existing database management system has served the hospital well for the past few years, however with thousands of prescriptions processed DAILY at the pharmacy, the department has outgrown the current system and the older technology. In order to serve you as efficiently as possible, and to also prepare for new technology advances in the future, this upgrade has become a necessity.

While we have devoted a great deal of pre-planning and staff training to learn the new system and processes, there may still be bumps in the road along the way as we adjust. As we begin to upgrade the old system to the new, you may encounter delays to prescription processing and pickup. You may also experience an increased telephone hold time when calling the pharmacy, due to a higher volume of questions as the new system is being navigated. We anticipate these delays to be temporary and will subside once the transition is complete.

Options

Patients who do not want to wait in line for their prescriptions and who do NOT immediately need their medications after their visit can use the new ScriptCenter 24/7 system.

The ScriptCenter is similar to a vending machine and is ideal for refills and non-urgent meds. It is located at FBCH in the Meadows Pavilion, on the first floor. Refills my be ordered by calling 1-800-377-1723, and selecting the "Fort Belvoir ScriptCenter Pharmacy" as the pick-up location.

NOTE: Refrigerated items are NOT eligible for this 24/7 service, and ScriptCenter is NOT an option for new prescriptions patients would normally fill at the hospital. This systems is designed for REFILLS ONLY, such as prescriptions patients would normally fill at the Exchange (PX) Pharmacy.

The Belvoir Hospital Pharmacy is scheduled to remain completely open during this upgrade process, without expected changes to business hours, and will remain dedicated to keeping you informed as we focus on your healthcare needs.

Our goal is to keep you in the loop every step of the way, and we appreciate your patience as we work to improve your Pharmacy experience!
